LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Writing as a craft, as a means of developing narratives, scientific discourses, theoretical questions, and argumentations. Writing as an artistic medium, as handwriting in dossiers and project concepts. Text work requires thinking in terms of structures and dramaturgies and allowing a free flow of writing, which through the act of writing produces the content, thoughts, arguments and ideas in the first place. Both have to be organized in order to enable the construction of a body of text and a free, but also coherent movement of thought.

CONTENT

The students bring current work or projects, formulate open questions and needs with regard to deepening and acquisition of needed or desired techniques. The focus is on individual and independent work, but also on reading and discussion in the plenum. The aim is to switch off the inner censorship and to find one's own sound. This includes discovering one's own way of thinking, perception as well as imagination. Techniques of structuring and experimenting with dramaturgies help to bring the material into a text that does justice to the author's personality as well as to the requirements of the concrete task and the medium used.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Module in German

ASSESSED ASSIGNMENT(S)

Minimum 80% attendance. The completion of a textual work that makes visible a development and/or an implementation of the learning content. Students formulate their individual criteria at the beginning of the workshop.

GRADING OF ASSESSED ASSIGNMENT(S)

Passing will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. language sound and text structure
2. willingness to deepen and to experiment
3. reading and discussion
4. process
5. quality and originality of the text project

RECORD

Students bring their own projects and formulate their questions and needs. They deepen existing skills and acquire new writing skills. They gain experience with their own sound, their own ways of thinking and imagining, as well as with turning off their inner censors, and they learn to trust their writing flow and their perceptual abilities. They gain new knowledge about dramaturgy and text structure and about the interplay between content and form. They are better able to recognize the appropriate form for their projects, to integrate learned techniques, and to organize the writing flow (creation of material) and the structural work (conception of the text) in a meaningful way.
