LEARNING OBJECTIVES
– Knowledge of ceramic basics and construction techniques (modelling, pinching, bead technique, slab technique, turning on the wheel, engobing surface structures, glazing)
– Experience with clay as a material
– Basic understanding of experimental moulding
– Independent work in the ceramics workshop
CONTENT
In this two-week module, you will gain an insight into various ceramic techniques. We will take a playful approach to the material and explore its properties. We will deal with various construction techniques, such as modelling, pinching, bead technique, slab technique, turning on the potter's wheel as well as shape, colour and surface design.
In the first part, we will explore the possibilities of the material through many practical exercises. We will play with the material in an open-minded way and experiment with shapes, colours and volumes. In the second part of the module, you will have the opportunity to realise a simple ceramic project of your own with our expert support.

RECORD
Students have acquired basic knowledge of ceramic materials and construction techniques. They have developed a general understanding of experimental form-finding. They have gained initial experience with the material clay and can work independently in the ceramics workshop.
