As a national technology competence centre, the Swiss Center for Design and Health (SCDH) is a research institution of international importance. At the interface between design and health, it combines interdisciplinary university research and the private sector with a view to knowledge and technology transfer. As the central research infrastructure of the SCDH, the Living Lab offers space, technical equipment, workshops and knowledge in a large hall for collaborative research and development of spaces and products relating to the topic of health - whether in the context of healthcare, the design of healthy workplaces or urban spaces or the development of materials, products and furniture.
The space available in the Living Lab will be fully customised to the needs of the users. With the help of human-centred design and evidence-based design approaches, the existing space and the work situations and processes that take place in it were analysed, structural, emotional and functional requirements were derived and tailored solutions were designed.
