The negative impacts of textile and fashion production on people and the environment mean that there is an urgent need for sustainable alternative materials. One such material is fungus. Our project is a research into kombucha as a material, and involves scientific-experimental basis work. The key focus is on process and documentation. The material is examined in terms of its properties and singularities, whereby our knowledge as textile designers is also a decisive factor. The result was the creation of a series of tactilely and visually designed material samples.
