Nyctophobia is a fear of darkness, a condition under which Alexandra Schläpfer herself suffers. The aim of her work is to design aesthetic solutions for adults by converting phosphorescent screen-print colour and phosphorescent embroidery textiles into nightlight. In the form of pyjamas and comfort blankets, this luminescence is brought close to the body. Her inspiration is taken from bioluminescent animals that can generate light themselves. Using the product, the persons themselves becomes akin to living bioluminescent organisms.
