“Understanding is complex because there is no visible, no superficial truth.” (Saul Steinberg)
Drawing is a physical process of understanding from observation and imagination, that doesn’t just manifest itself as drawings. A drawing is at the same time a trace or evidence of an intellectual/spiritual process.
In the first block the lecturers will illustrate different aspects of drawing. In the second block the topic will be worked on through individual research and formulated as a concept. This is the phase of intensive individual discussion with the lecturers. On the basis of these discussions the project ideas will be brought to realisation. In the last phase the projects are carried out and completed for presentation in the form of an exhibition.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The students learn different aspects of drawing: drawings that tell a story and developing dramatic composition (dramatology), drawing as intellectual and artistic experiment, drawing as a process of understanding, drawing as a discovery.
The drawings created in experiments will be reflected upon and on the basis of these discussions project ideas will emerge that will be realised independently.
The exchange in knowledge between student areas of fine art and applied arts provides new inspiration, ways of expression and strengthens personal and social skills.
