There are many applications of sorption for substance separation. One example is the separation of odorous substances in kitchen hoods. The Competence Center supports its partners and clients in the analysis of sorption processes and the measurement of relevant parameters of sorption materials.

Biomass can be used to generate heat and electricity in a renewable and CO2-neutral way. Together with partners and clients, the Competence Center develops new combus-tion concepts and derives optimization measures for existing biomass combustion plants, for example to increase efficiency.

Fine dust from combustion processes is harmful to health. The Competence Center examines the wood combustion systems of partners and clients for fine dust emissions, the formation mechanism behind them and develops measures to reduce fine dust emissions.
