With a reputation that extends beyond the country’s borders, the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture is a leading provider of applied research and development (R&D) in the field of construction and engineering. Its expertise is distributed in agile teams, which in turn are organised in thematic competence centres and research groups. In doing so, transdisciplinary synergies across thematic areas are exploited in market- and classroom-relevant ways.

In order to facilitate an integrated approach to transforming the built environment in terms of sustainability and digitisation, research in construction at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture is well networked and broadly positioned in the fields of architecture, interior architecture, civil engineering, building technology and energy.

In order to be able to act in a way that is both agile and future-oriented in the context of sustainability and digitisation, engineering research at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture is closely interlinked in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical and energy engineering, medical engineering, and innovation and technology management.

Research conference

The research conference is agile in its organisation and meets regularly for stand-up meetings. Its focus is on cooperation within interdisciplinary projects as well as cross-entity tenders and enquiries. It creates optimal conditions for the provision of services and ensures that the exchange of experiences is of a high standard.

Research plenary

The 300 researchers and 150 lecturers come together for the research plenary, where they present and reflect on their research work. The agile format is aimed at promoting internal exchange, fostering a feedback culture and strengthening cooperation across institutional and School boundaries.
