Major Management & Law
Acting entrepreneurially means, for example, concluding employment contracts, buying and selling goods, leasing machines or protecting brands and data. This ‘executive’ management always becomes effective through the law, and it must increasingly take into account existing regulations in the national and international environment.
The Management & Law major combines business administration and the essential law. The major thus offers a practice-orientated consolidation of the basic business education. This enables future companies to act in accordance with the law and rules - i.e. in terms of compliance. Legal disputes and risks can thus be prophylactically minimised.
The Management & Law major also deepens knowledge of strategic management in relation to organisational forms and the effective governance of companies and business processes, which is becoming even more important in the course of digitalisation, for example through the sharing and platform economy.
What does this major qualify for?
Graduates of the Management & Law major will use legal skills in their tasks and management functions in the economic field. They are therefore primarily qualified for business management functions that involve a proportion of legal issues - which is very often the case in practice. Alumni themselves describe this as follows:
"The legal background is very helpful for day-to-day work.”
“You often come into contact with legal aspects in your day-to-day work in the Purchasing/Marketing department.”
“You are a good interface between the employees and the legal department.”
“Understanding the law also helps me when negotiating contracts (especially loan agreements) in terms of understanding, argumentation and assessing their importance.”
“Management & Law offered me a very broad basic education on which I can now specialise in my field.”
