Kursinhalt
The "Teaching in English" course helps lecturers at the HSLU to navigate the challenges of teaching in English in a non-English-speaking setting. The course is for both native and non-native speakers currently teaching classes in English in bachelor's, master's and continuing education programmes, or expected to be doing so in the future.
The course provides a theoretical framework for teaching in English in a non-English-speaking environment and provides an understanding of the issues and challenges faced by teachers and students. Participants explore factors that enable effective teaching, including English as a lingua franca (ELF) and effective communication strategies. In addition, they discuss a range of factors that impact classroom dynamics. In a series of interactive sessions, participants share their experiences and engage in micro-teaching sessions dedicated to topics from their own disciplines. Practice and classroom planning activities are followed by peer and teacher feedback and self-evaluation.
