Cooperation in Building and Planning Sharing Resources and Forging Networks

When it comes to building and planning, what is the best way of deploying resources that is mutually beneficial? This question is explored by one of the University's interdisciplinary focus areas, Cooperation in Building and Planning.

The interdisciplinary focus area Cooperation in Building and Planning (IDS KoBRa) is scheduled to run from 2014 to 2017. Its work centres on the question how cooperative networks can initiate and optimise the shared use of resources. The IDS KoBRa is home to research teams looking into this issue. Their findings flow into the University's teaching at degree and continuing education level.

The interdisciplinary focus area Cooperation in Building and Planning comprises four thematic fields:

  • Sharing as a process of social transformation
  • Planning processes in collaborations as a challenge for towns and municipalities
  • Social change and its effect on the way we live our lives
  • Energy collaborations

These thematic fields link to existing research strategies and activities at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and complement them at an interdisciplinary level. The interdiciscpolinary focus area Cooperation in Building and Planning runs projects that encompass each of these thematic fields and acquire other research funding. This allows research questions to be covered in greater depth.

Since the questions are complex, the research teams are interdisciplinary in composition, thus facilitating collaborative networks amongst the researchers and, at a transdisciplinary level, partners in industry. These activities are intended to facilitate the formation of collaborative networks at a local and regional level, as well as between research and industry partners.

The goal of the individual research ventures is to develop application-oriented tools and collaborative processes targeting the optimised use of resources and the creation of shared added value.

Teaching modules

The interdisciplinary focus area Cooperation in Bulding and Planning promotes and develops a range of interdisciplinary courses at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and facilitates international networking.

International Summer School: Interdisciplinary urban and community planning

In the one week program four different lectures of the University of Applied Sciences present one of their major research fields (neighbourhoods and communities, temporary use, tourism, mobility and infrastructure and architecture and planning processes) with the help of case studies.

Building as a System – concepts for future-proof buildings

The module centres on the question how the various elements or components that make up a building (use, form, meaning, facilities) should intermesh to produce adaptable and acquisition-friendly buildings. The idea is that they should contribute to the realisation of pleasant living environments.

Ab Mitte 2018! Neues Weiterbildungsangebot zur Bewirtschaftung von Stockwerkeigentum

Dieses Weiterbildungsangebot basiert auf der «Luzerner Toolbox für die Entwicklung von Langzeitstrategien im Stockwerkeigentum (StWE)» und weiteren Forschungsprojekten zum StWE, die mit Unterstützung des IDS KoBRa entwickelt wurden. Die «Luzerner Toolbox» bietet Instrumente (8 Faltblätter & vertiefende Themenberichte, sowie Excel-Tools) für die Umsetzung von Langzeitstrategien im StWE in den Bereichen Unterhalt & Erneuerung. Das Weiterbildungsangebot vertieft die in den Tools gegebenen Handlungsempfehlungen und führt in deren praktische Umsetzung ein. Themen darin u.a.: Einführung in die Bauzustandsanalyse und die Entwicklung von Sanierungsstrategien, rechtliche Stolpersteine und Grundlagen der Mediation, Möglichkeiten zur Durchführung und Finanzierung von (energetischen) Erneuerungen im StWE. Die Schulung (in Form von Tagesseminaren) erfolgt durch Dozierende verschiedener Departemente der Hochschule Luzern sowie durch externe Expertinnen und Experten.

A conference on Interdisciplinary Participatory Approaches in Spatial Planning & Development that will be in Chicago on September 24 - 26, 2018. 

This conference will focus on socio-spatial concepts in interdisciplinary approaches to planning, on interdisciplinary and participatory approaches in different fields of community development, and on various approaches to implementing governance in processes of interdisciplinary and socio-spatial urban planning. The call for abstracts closes on February 20, 2018.

Case-Studies in Arbeitsgruppen; Diskussion von Modellen und Vorhaben für die Hochschule Luzern

Mit Unterstützung der BKID-Leitung und mit zusätzlichen Mitteln vom IDS KoBRa konnte Anfang 2017 eine Online-Befragung der Studiengang- und Studienrichtungsleitungen sowie Fachverantwortlichen der Hochschule Luzern zur Bewertung der Interdisziplinarität in der Lehre durchgeführt werden. Die Ergebnisse der Umfrage wurden beim Workshop Interdisziplinarität in der Lehre präsentiert. 

Publications

«Handlungsempfehlung für die transdisziplinäre und partizipative Planung von Spielräumen für Kinder»

Autoren: Lea Aeschlimann, Annina Friz, Richard Zemp

In Zusammenarbeit mit dem IDS KoBRa und dem IDS Kinderpartizipation in Spielräumen entstand diese Handlungsempfehlung, die kurz und übersichtlich die Rahmenbedingungen für die Zusammenarbeit der unterschiedlichen Akteure bei der partizipativen Planung von Spielräumen darstellt. Sie richtet sich an alle an der Planung beteiligten Personen, insbesondere an Fachleute aus den Bereichen Soziokultur, Planung und Gestaltung, an private und öffentliche Auftraggeber. Es werden Fragen der Prozessgestaltung, der Finanzierung des Partizipationsvorhabens sowie der Partizipationsmethoden behandelt.

Kurzfilm zur Kommunikation Innenentwicklung KOIN

Ein zentrales Anliegen des Projekts «Kommunikation Innenentwicklung» ist der Wissenstransfer in die Praxis. In zahlreichen Projekten konnte in den letzten Jahren viel Erfahrungswissen zur Innenentwicklung in den Gemeinden zusammengetragen werden. Dieses Wissen muss aber zielgruppengerecht kommuniziert werden, damit es nicht verloren geht. An der Hochschule Luzern wird deshalb in Zusammenarbeit mit externen Partnern ein Kurzfilm entwickelt, der den unterschiedlichen Zielgruppen als Einstieg in das komplexe Thema Innenentwicklung dienen soll.
