Immersive technologies are interdisciplinary in nature and therefore require a broad set of skills. For optimum results, different types of expertise must work in concert and intermesh. That is why we made sure the program content is just as varied.
In total, the BSc in Immersive Technologies is worth 180 ECTS credits. On the one hand, it will teach you the technical skills required to develop and implement convincing immersive applications, products and services. On the other, you will also gain a foundational understanding of adjacent subject areas.
You will acquire the necessary technological understanding and the technical skills to develop immersive applications for different industries.

To be able to develop immersive applications, you first need to understand the needs, expectations and capabilities of their future users. That is why you will also study human-computer interaction in depth.
In addition to your technical implementation skills and knowledge in human-computer interaction design, you will also train your social and methodology skills and gain insight into other relevant fields.
In the Crea Labs, students hone their implementation and interdisciplinary skills and consolidate them across various projects.
To complement the compulsory part of the curriculum and to pursue your interests and develop your skills and knowledge in an area of your choosing, you will be able to select modules from a varied pool of electives. There are two types of electives: the so-called "extension” modules and free elective modules. The “extension” part of the program consists of twelve modules, whose content mostly focuses on our specialized field and allows students to further immerse themselves in the subject matter (e.g., Advanced Game Development, Advanced Sound, etc.). Each student chooses six of these twelve extension modules. The free electives are then picked either from the remaining six extension modules or from the HSLU’s overall portfolio of modules (including ones taught in languages other than English).
What are ECTS credits? ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer System. ECTS credits are a unit of measurement for the period of study. Each education and training programme is allocated a certain number of ECTS credits, based on the average duration of the module's completion. One ECTS credit is equivalent to approximately 30 hours of work. ECTS enables the transparent recognition of academic achievements. A bachelor's degree is equivalent to 180 ECTS credits.
"I’m excited by applications that are close to us humans. In immersive technologies, translating the user requirements for hardware and software is as much part of the development process as the design and subsequent implementation of a suitable, performant and appealing solution." - Ariana Huwiler, Research Associate at the HSLU's Immersive Realities Research Lab
