Moving to a foreign country to study is an adventure. To make sure our international students settle in smoothly in Switzerland and to help them deal with any problems and obstacles they might face, we have developed the buddy program.

What to expect from your buddy

First and foremost, your buddy will offer friendship and support at peer level, give advice and share information about student life both at the HSLU and outside the university. If you feel a bit overwhelmed in the first few weeks and months, your buddy will be there for you.

Here are some of the things our buddies do with and for our international students. He/she...

  • … will contact you before you arrive in Switzerland.
  • … will meet you on campus on your first day and show you around.
  • … will introduce you to his or her fellow students and go for lunch as a group or meet them for coffee.
  • … will regularly and proactively check in on you to see how you are coping.
  • … will assist you in getting help if you need it.

Who are the buddies?

Buddies are local students from various degree programs who have already completed at least two semesters at the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology.
