It is the very foundation of our life on earth and also of my project: the aerosphere, (i.e. the atmosphere surrounding our planet). To symbolise this element I created designs for portable parasols.
Shade – as protection from the sun – is a matter of growing importance to all of us. It takes a vast spectrum of designs and materials to appeal to the broadest possible range of consumer. All parasols constitute a mini-climate so to speak, inasmuch as they provide shelter and shade. I have carved out a place in the future for this historic artefact, while simultaneously drawing attention to environmental and public health issues.
