The mathematical constant Pi, which was originally defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter (and hence is called Kreiszahl, literally “circle number” in German) stands as a philosophical contrast to any right-angled fabric. The fabric in turn is a point of departure for further techniques. Pifunctions as a series of numbers (3, 1, 4, 1, 5...) or as a single number (3/31/314/...); and it serves me as a decisive criterion in every conceivable context. A hint of caprice enlivens this systematisation. Every pattern thus created is – like the number itself – infinitely extensible.
