With the introductory modules "Material Routes", students create a broad basis for a circular understanding of materials and get to know the department's workshops along the way.
Material is introduced as the starting point for responsible design. The focus is on getting to know and using different production processes, embedded in the context of craft and industry in a sustainable circular economy. The technical, aesthetic and haptic properties of ceramics, wood, metal and synthetics are developed experimentally. Through the contents of the module, the students deal with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and focus on Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
