Study Trips On the road between industry, arts and crafts

Ever since product design emerged as a discipline in the middle of the 19th century as a reaction to industrialization, there have been many different movements. Each of it has positioned itself between industry, arts and crafts. Since object design finds itself in the same field of conflict, we would like learn from different historical and contemporary positions.

Netherlands - 2024 (train)

We travelled to four different cities in the Netherlands for a week with 20 object and textile design students. On the theme of Material & Colour, we visited a wide variety of studios in the fields of textile, object, food and ceramic design, but also in the fields of art and animation.

Our first study trip after the pandemic made us realise just how many creative, sustainable design concepts are being pursued in Switzerland. 
We spent a week behind the scenes at Swiss company shows, which could not have been more different: we saw everything from meat substitute products and giant washing machines for lorry sheets to cellars full of mushrooms and even an exhibition of already used materials.
