The Baltic States, especially Latvia, offer interesting real estate markets, as well as lucrative investment opportunities and modern real estate projects. A deep understanding of the current market development, macroeconomic situation, market rents, planning processes, legal environment and changing requirements is necessary to evaluate investment opportunities.
The top-notch speakers from Riga Technical University and Lanida provided the third semester students with exciting lectures on various topics and challenges in the real estate industry. In particular, the following topics were introduced to the students:
- Overview of the Latvian real estate market: office, residential and retail
- Banks, their role in real estate financing
- Spatial and urban planning, zoning law, taxation, construction
- Business in the Baltics: Estonia
- Investment program for energy efficiency in multi-family residential buildings in Latvia
The lectures were complemented by selected site visits and project developments. In this context, the students were able to gain experience in the planning and realization of, among others, The Philosophers' Residence, Business Garden Riga, LEGEND and Villa Milia. The trip was rounded off by a gala dinner with the students.
