Corporate Real Estate Management is an important topic for all leading companies worldwide. In order to obtain targeting insights in the real estate strategy of Novartis the students of the first semester in the MScRE-program were invited to the Novartis Campus in Basel. Besides several lectures, different locations with different workplaces were analyzed.
Thereby students focused mainly on workplace trends. From the importance of home office and shared offices to the digital implementation of required IT structures and regulatory obstacles, all questions were addressed in a vibrant discussion, which provided a comprehensive view of corporate real estate management.
The complexity of the chosen company was unique, as in this case it was not a plain office property, but rather different types of use, building qualities and architecture. Furthermore, the company is regulated by various laws and guidelines.
We want to thank Nelle Machiels, Global Head REFS Strategy & Alliance at Novartis, and Marco Serra, Global Novartis Chief Architect, for the perfect organization of the tour and the support as well as for her interesting lectures during the semester. Thank you a lot - it was a great experience and we are looking forward to your further insights!
The MScRE is the highest degree in the real estate industry and is only offered in Switzerland at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Further information is available here or directly from Prof. Dr. Michael Trübestein.
