Effective research data management (RDM) is essential for good scientific practice. Every research project includes the generation, collection or compilation of data. This data must be handled with care throughout its lifecycle: from collecting the data to its analysis, sharing, archiving, and reuse.
This course explores the nuances of RDM, with particular emphasis on writing readme files, publishing and reusing research data and code, and using Git/GitHub for version control. You'll learn through lectures, field reports from other researchers, and discussions.
This course is one of two advanced modules on RDM. The other module focuses on qualitative data, thus complementing this course in terms of content. It is possible to attend both advanced modules. While the basic course in the spring semester provides a solid foundation for the advanced courses, completing it is not an admission requirement.
