Interdisciplinary Networks (IDN)

Interdisciplinary research, teaching and learning are among the HSLU’s core activities and championed by the university since 2009. This commitment culminated in the establishment of an inter- and transdisciplinarity hub of national and international renown over the past fifteen years. Dedicated to addressing key social needs and challenges, it will be further developed across three pillars from 2024 to 2027.

  • Development of “IC Spatial Development and Social Cohesion” into strategic beacon initiative “IDN Spatial Development and Social Cohesion”

IDN Spatial Development and Social Cohesion

The Interdisciplinary network “IDN Spatial Development and Social Cohesion” is dedicated to developing solutions for social challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration in spatial development. A successor to the “IC Spatial Development and Social Cohesion”, the IDN builds on a wealth of experience, a wide range of focal points and numerous projects.

The HSLU has expanded its footing in the health domain by introducing its new degree programmes in Nursing and Medical Engineering/Life Sciences. The purpose of the “IDN Health” is to boost research projects and activities to also advance the healthcare system through research.

IDN Carte Blanche Interdisziplinarity

The “IDN Carte Blanche Interdisciplinarity” represents total openness around topics worth exploring. This creates opportunities for new initiatives on leading-edge topics and the development of new subject-specific skills while boosting innovation and ensuring practical relevance.

Interdisciplinary Clusters IC (2018-2023)

The HSLU has been promoting inter- and transdisciplinarity for many years. In the 2018 – 2023 strategy period, its dedicated vehicles were the ICs “Spatial Development & Social Cohesion” and “Digital Transformation of the Working World”.
