Biografie
Fabian Widmer is a Scientific Researcher in the Lucerne University of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences (HSLU). He received his Bachelors in in Electrical Engineering from HSLU in 2019 and his Masters in Information Communication Technologies from HSLU in 2022.
From 2019 to 2022, he was a Research Assistant in the Institute of Electrical Engineering at HSLU. During that time he worked on multiple research projects such as SmartHelio, Light-Dosimeter (LiDo) and KnowlEDGE. Additionally he worked on the design, setup and execution of the laboratory lessons for the module Sensor systems.
Since February 2022, he is a Senior Scientific Researcher in the Analytics and Intelligent Energy Systems research group, part of the Competence Centre for Digital Energy and Electric Power (DEEP) within the Institute for Electrical Engineering (IET). His work includes the design, setup and optimization of machine learning (ML) models for the energy sector both in simulation approaches and on embedded devices.
Past tasks include:
- Design and implementation of a user-side load curve predictor using Neural Networks,
- Implementation, analysis and comparison of Model Personalization and Federated Learning as a secure and private model optimization process
- Developement of Production Forecasting Method
- Developement of a TimeSeries Database (INFLUX)
His research interest includes the machine learning, data science, automation- and control systems
Since 2023 Fabian also started working as a lecturer for the HSLU, for which he plans, organises and holds lectures in the fields of ML, Data Sciences, Programming and Engineering. Namely he teaches:
- Python Basics
- Advanced Python
- Energy Data Analytics and Forecasting (EDAF)
- Sensor Systems (SeSy)
