The Information Systems Research Lab focuses on Web3 technologies and their use for building secure decentralized systems from a holistic perspective. This includes the design and application of tools from varied fields ranging from cryptography to game theory to distributed computing.
The designs of all decentralized systems vary in terms of performance and security. Among other things, our research lab focuses on developing solutions that address this problem and are tailored to specific applications. Our lab provides solutions that ensure better performance at lower cost with a higher degree of decentralization and security.
The Information Systems Research Lab not only focuses on Web3 technologies: our activities also include exploring the potential of blockchain in real-world applications. Our research spans across critical areas such as energy, sustainability, and health, where the potential of the blockchain can be leveraged to improve transparency, security, and efficiency.
Beyond these primary areas, we are in the process of developing various other use cases where blockchain technology can provide transformative solutions. These range from digital identity management to improving supply chain processes. Our lab’s work is firmly rooted in international collaboration: our partnerships with leading academic institutions, industry experts, and governments allow us to jointly develop innovative solutions to global challenges. A multidisciplinary approach is inherent to our research subject and we are always looking to build new collaborations with partners across industry sectors and academia.
