Equipped with technologies, software and tools to use and experiment with, the Digital Lab provides a leading-edge project environment of high practical relevance. Specifically, it is used for project assignments across disciplines in the Digital Construction Studios, for instance for modeling, parameterization, project management, immersive collaboration, scanning/survey, model coordination/data validation, real-time rendering, information management, extended reality, calculations, simulations, scripting, visual programming, prefabrication, BIM2Field or model-/information-based operation and maintenance and facility management.
Moreover, the Digital Lab features a selection of different types of digital BIM models at various levels of detail. Among other things, digital twins can be used for model-based calculations, simulations and implementations of use cases without prior creation of a BIM model in each case.
In coordination with the existing FabLabs and workshops, the Digital Lab also provides access to 3D printers, CNC machines and robots. These spaces offer a rewarding environment and an opportunity to holistically observe and experience the topic of digitalization to students and lecturers alike.
