Admission to study What requirements must be met?

You must meet the following criteria to be able to study "Business Engineering | Innovation" at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture:

  • A school-leaving qualification that entitles you to study at a university or a university of applied sciences. In case of a HF degree, individual modules may be credited. After enrolment, contact the head of the Bachelor's Program to discuss and apply for module exemptions.
  • Work experience of at least 12 months in a relevant field.

Internship: professional experience for your studies

You don't have the relevant professional background? No problem. With a tailor-made internship, you can catch up on this professional experience.

General

You can also be admitted to the first year of study without an entrance examination if you have a cantonal or federal Matura certificate or a non-relevant professional qualification and a vocational Matura.

Aims and content of the internship

The primary objective is to get to know the various work areas such as production and assembly, as well as development and design. In this way, you will learn the most important basic skills that are important for the creation of products in mechanical and electrical engineering.

The practical part consists of two parts:

At the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture

In the first part, we offer a four-week intensive training program that introduces you to the following areas:

  • Technical drawing: sketching, representing individual parts and assemblies, creating parts lists, standards, measurements, tolerances, design and manufacturing, machine elements, materials.
  • Manufacturing project: insight into manufacturing or the areas and processes of manufacturing technology (manual machining, turning, drilling, thread cutting), assembly, assembly systems, testing, commissioning, etc.
  • Electrical engineering: electrical charge, electrical current, electrical voltage, power and efficiency, electrical resistance, circuit, equivalent circuit diagram and symbolism, electrical measurement technology and electrical connection technology.

In an industrial company

Parallel to the first or second semester, the professional internship follows, either full or part-time. The company can be chosen freely, but must belong to an industry that offers technical training.

During the internship, a work journal must be kept to check whether the internship objectives have been achieved.

Organisation of the internship

We are happy to help you organise a customised internship with a suitable industrial company. The professional internship and the preliminary technical courses are agreed individually with the senior assistant and the head of the Bachelor's Program as a requirement during the admission process.
