Sympatec Helos KR Particle size determination with laser diffraction analysis of dry and wet samples

With the modern laser diffraction analyzer Helos KR from Sympatec, the particle size distribution of samples can be determined quickly and reliably. The system is equipped with a dry and a wet disperser unit.

The laser diffraction is based on different optical properties of the sample and the surrounding medium. With help of the Sympatec Helos KR, the particle size distribution of wet and dry samples can be determined. The CC TEVT is glad to provide support regarding the selection of the most suitable dispersion method. 

Specifications Sympatec Helos KR:

  • Measuring range dry disperser: 0.1 µm to 2‘000 µm
  • Measuring range wet disperser: 0.1 µm to 875 µm
  • Combination of measuring ranges possible for analysis of extremely wide size distributions

Evaluation can be done according to Frauenhofer or according to Mie. Frauenhofer is a parameter free solution whereas a prerequisite for Mie is knowledge of the refractive index. Customized processing and evaluation of the data can be done on request.

The infrastructure is available for research and provision of industrial services.
