Construction needs innovative and, at the same time, durable solutions in the fields of building technology and energy. Its systemic approach, competence, innovative power, creativity and pragmatism allow for the Institute of Building Technology and Energy to develop solutions for real-world applications.

Research

Simulation and Analysis of Buildings and Districts

The Federal Government's energy strategy demands an increase in energy efficiency and renewable energies. We conduct research into measures for buildings and entire Districts that help to fulfil this requirement, low-temperature thermal district networks being a promising approach.

Health and Hygiene

Our health is our most valuable asset, and it is our duty to protect it at all costs. Buildings can make people ill and cause, for example, sick building syndrome (SBS) or legionnaires' disease. Based on the analysis of symptoms and other findings, we identify the underlying causes and develop solutions accordingly.

Light, Automation and Electrical Systems

The research group of the Institute of Building Technology and Energy IGE focuses on the individual needs of the building’s occupants in the areas of lighting, automation and electrical systems, and on the meaningful combination of smart technologies with existing systems.

Sustainable Construction and Renovation

Our vision is a resource-efficient, sustainable and needs-oriented building stock. The research team at the Institute of Building Technology and Energy is exploring holistic approaches, proposing solutions that do not require sacrifices in terms of comfort and economic viability.

Building Technology Laboratory

With a high-quality infrastructure and collective expertise accumulated over many years, the Building Technology Laboratory supports you in the fields of aero and fluid-dynamic, thermal and acoustic testing and in the development of components, units and systems.

Fassaden: Wie sich PV und Begrünung ergänzen 

Fassaden sind mehr als die nackten Wände eines Hauses: Sie können mit Photovoltaik (PV)- Modulen zur Stromerzeugung genutzt werden, oder mittels Begrünung einen Mehrwert für Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner schaffen. In einem Forschungsprojekt hat das Institut für Gebäudetechnik und Energie der HSLU  im Auftrag des BFE untersucht, was Fassaden abhängig von ihrer Ausrichtung zur Solarstrom-Produktion beitragen und wie sich PV und Begrünung am besten kombinieren lassen. Positionspapier «Lüftung von Gebäuden in Pandemiesituationen»

Die Corona-Pandemie war Anlass zu einer intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit der Lüftung von Gebäuden. Ein Positionspapier, an dem das Institut für Gebäudetechnik und Energie der HSLU beteiligt war, fasst zusammen, was Planende, Betreibende und Verantwortliche von Gebäuden beim Lüften in Pandemiesituationen beachten müssen.
