Learning Objectives
The students will deal with principles and strategies in design and art that can be explored in printing, and get familiar with at least one of the printing techniques offered by the workshops at HSLU D&K. In addition, they acquire whatever competences and skills they need to advance their project. They explore corresponding cultural and subject-specific theoretical backgrounds.
The students expand and intensify their practice in inventive, explorative, and iterative processes as well as their ability to advance their work towards a conceptually and creatively coherent result. They enlarge their repertoire of corresponding methods and project competences and learn to use them accurately – in general and with regard to curating their own work.
The students develop and carry out their self-initiated projects independently and in collaboration with others participating in the module. They continually reflect on their proceedings.
Content
In a first step, the students will get involved with a printmaking technique. They will also collaborate to develop content linked to a preset subject matter tackled by all +Colabor and generate common projects in small teams. Alongside practical work in the printing workshops short lectures, ideation sessions and discussions of resulting samples will be held. Conceptual implications and theoretical grounds of working in series will be examined, its potential explored.
In teams, students' projects will be developed further to become more and more precise. Iterative strategies as well as artistic concepts and design principles that can be adopted from printing (and other in principle comparable techniques) will be examined and applied to push content, concepts, and artwork.
The last days of the module are designated to consolidation, presentation, and reflection, working on the product as well as reflecting the process, paying attention to iterative strategies and artistic concepts discovered and used.
