The Master of Arts in Fine Arts at the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art provides an opportunity to develop solid competencies and define a distinctive artistic profile – underscored by precise practical skills and addressing contemporary societal issues – for three kinds of professionals in three different yet interconnected areas. Our students are persons interested in (1) realizing independent art projects in public spheres; (2) realizing independent art projects in the field of critical image practices; or, (3) working through intermediatorial or outreach institutional and independent settings and/or becoming teachers of visual arts up to the secondary level (GCSE “A,” in Switzerland, so-called Matura schools). Especially developed for exhibition in public space, student projects follow the outlines of the chosen field from one of these four possible majors: Major in Art Teaaching, Major in Knowledge to Society KNOTS, Major in Art in Public Spheres MAPS, Major in Critical Image Practices CIP.
