Admissions Procedure 2025/26  Details: Foundation Course in Design, Film and Art in Lucerne

On this page are gathered all the relevant facts and figures concerning the admissions procedure 2025/26 for the Foundation Course scheduled to run from early August 2025 to early May 2026 (or until May 2027 for part-time students covering the same course content but over a two-year period).

Overview
The one-year Foundation Course in Design, Film and Art at the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art opens students’ eyes not only to the basics of design, film and art but also to the vast range of potential careers pursued today in the fine arts and creative industries. The modules studied during the Foundation Course reflect the broad spectrum of disciplines available on bachelor degree programmes. We advise students on future academic or professional opportunities in light of their respective talents and interests.
Schedule

What is the admissions procedure?
The admissions procedure is divided into two parts. In the first part, you are asked to submit your documents, a portfolio and a written assignment on a set theme. In the event of a positive decision, you will receive an invitation to attend an interview and to sit an entrance examination during which you must accomplish one or two creative set tasks within circa 4 hours.

Info Days (of the entire Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts)

On the Info Days held Friday, 22 and Saturday, 23 November 2024, prospective students can learn about bachelor degree programmes at the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art. The Foundation Course will be present too at Viscosi City 745. Lecturers will be on hand all day long to personally discuss the Foundation Course in Design, Film and Art and the admissions procedure.

Info Day on the Admissions Procedure – for registered applicants only 

All registered applicants are invited to an information event held on Friday evening, 29 November 2024, where they are given details of the admissions procedure, including the set assignment to be completed at home.
In advance, those interested have the opportunity to attend the Foundation Course classes later in the afternoon.

Mandatory Fee

Anyone who submits the set assignment needs to pay CHF 125.– admissions fee.

The set assignment completed at home must be delivered on Monday, 20 January 2025

Results of the Admission Procedures /Entrance Examination Part 1

Until 29 January 2025: The admissions committee views the set assignments and decides who will be invited to Part 2 of the admissions procedure. Applicants will be informed by post. No information will be available by phone.

Circa 4-hour entrance examination

Friday, 14 February 2025. All those invited to Part 2 of the admissions procedure are required to take the half-day (circa 4-hour) entrance examination.

Final Decisions on Admissions

Final decisions on admissions will be announced in late March 2025. Applicants are informed by post.
