Various embossing processes were tested in order to showcase wood from an unknown aspect. Different wood types respond to the swelling of the removed embossment in their own way, thus presenting their distinctiveness – always combined with a pleasant tactile quality. The applicational potential of the process is demonstrated using a cupboard. Depending on the light, the ornament takes on a more or less pronounced appearance, whilst nevertheless always remaining tangible. In a digitised world of flawless surfaces, the exterior of the cupboard forms a welcome and natural counter-pole.
