Completing a doctoral program requires a great commitment of time, money, ingenuity, and motivation. Given this investment on the part of the candidates, we strive to create a close match between candidates and the program right from the beginning. This also means that we already check for this match during the admission process. First, we provide you with all the information you need - through information materials such as our website or individual coaching sessions with you. This allows you to make an informed decision about the fit of the program with your plans and expectations. We also assess this match from our perspective, based on your application materials, and in the form of an interview. To reflect on various perspectives and omit any bias from earlier coaching conversations, you will be interviewed by the Admission Board, consisting of three to five experts being present at your interview, including the Head of Program.
The 45min interview will take place after the application deadline, at the HSLU campus in Lucerne (online options are available, especially for those who would need to travel from abroad). The Admission Board will conduct an honest and open conversation with you about whether your plans, expectations, competences, resources, and motivations match with the developmental steps we foresee for you over the course of the DBA program. Given that the interview will be based on the application material you submit, no further preparation is needed. Approximately one week after the interview, you will be notified about your admission to the program.
You will also receive detailed feedback from the Admission Board respective the decision made. Also, the Admission Board may provide additional recommendations to consider when pursuing your DBA-goals (in the case of admission) or when reapplying in a following year.
For dates and times of the Admission Board interviews, see sub-section Dates and Venues.
