Our Science goes to the moon and beyond! 🌖 ☄️ 🪐
We are thrilled to announce that NASA’s Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI) signed an agreement, officially making Switzerland an Affiliate Member of the SSERVI.
The Swiss Exploration, Education, and Science Endeavor (CHEESE) partnership will facilitate and promote the collaboration of Swiss researchers with SSERVI and its international partners. CHEESE is an established network of Swiss research institutions – Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts being one of them – interested in the human and robotic exploration of the Moon, the inner solar system, Near Earth Asteroids, and beyond.
As part of this collaboration our researchers from the competence center autonomous systems and robotics as well as the competence center bioscience and medical engineering are working on autonomous Robots for In-site Surface Exploration on the moon.
«This strategic partnership offers a unique opportunity for Swiss institutions to further contribute to human and robotic exploration missions to the Moon and beyond, enabling scientific breakthroughs while fostering technological and commercial innovation», says Dr. Valentin Bickel, Planetary Scientist at the University of Bern, host institute for the Swiss CHEESE SSERVI node.
CHEESE is more than happy to welcome new members, from both the academic and professional world, especially students. Get in touch with Prof. Dr. Fabian Ille and Prof. Marcel Joss if you want to know more.
