Adrian Roiz, Arup, Title: Circularity & Sustainability above and beyond the ideal world: a few practical notes and an example
He is an Structural Engineer by training, and joined Arup in 2006. In these 18 years, he has been involved in a wide range of projects in 5 continents, of different scales and including a variety of façade typologies, materials and systems: from standard curtain walling to geometrically complex structural glass, from commercial buildings to stadiums and airport terminal buildings. His approach to projects is defined by three key drivers: integration of complementary disciplines, technical acumen and sustainability.
Adrián led the engineering scope within the Arup team working on the envelope for the Real Madrid stadium full refurbishment, and is the key account manager for the Spanish giant fashion retailer Inditex. He has been for several years the chairman of the Spanish mirror committee of AEN/CTN-140/GT3.

Henri Beranek, Josef Gartner GmbH, Titel: Circular façades – practical examples and future prospects
Henri Beranek is Sustainability Manager at Josef Gartner GmbH and holds a Master of Science in Strategy and Sustainability. He works on solutions that promote the transformation of the construction industry towards sustainability. His focus is on establishing business ecosystems to combine circular economy and financial business goals.
Annalena Stetter, Josef Gartner GmbH, Titel: Circular façades – practical examples and future prospects
Since graduating from the DHBW Mosbach in 2019, Annalena Stetter has been working in the structural department at Josef Gartner GmbH. She deals with both structural calculations and approvals for special constructions including projects like the Letzi Tower in Zürich and the Sagrada Familia cross in Barcelona. She is currently writing her Master's thesis on dissipative brackets at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences.
Xabier Garcia, Inasus, Tile: Bespoke facades: Our sustainability approach
Xabier Garcia has an Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA), Computer Science Engineering Degree, MSc in Health and Safety. He specializes in several management areas as Corporate Strategy, Global Purchasing, Cost Control, Quality, Health and Safety, Internationalization or TIC. He joined Inasus in 1.999 and became Managing Director in 2.018, leading a highly skilled team responsible of important façade projects in 12 countries of 3 different continents.
Ron Jacobs, Jansen AG, Title: Reversible façades
Ron Jacobs (Amsterdam 1965) is Project Sales Manager International and has been working for Jansen AG for thirty years. After completing his studies at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, he settled in Belgium in 1994 and became directly involved in the construction industry there. Active until 2021 as Jansen's distribution partner in the Netherlands and Belgium, Ron built a large network of construction professionals from all disciplines; from design, construction to maintenance. Reuse may be added to that. Since January 2022, he has been committed to promoting the unique properties of steel façade systems to architects, clients and universities on an international scale. Research plays a major role in the further international expansion of the Jansen brand. The LCA and related reuse potential of steel is of such significance that Ron has become closely involved in several international (research) projects and case studies. Architects and building professionals know Jansen references such as the award-winning Battersea Power Station in London, Depot Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam and Gare Maritime in Brussels. Renovations and transformations of existing buildings have now become commonplace. Architects will increasingly repurpose and reuse existing buildings (adaptive re-use). So let us design the new buildings we build today fit for re-use in the future.
Jansen AG - Jansen Steel Systems develops and produces sophisticated architectural steel systems for windows, doors, and facades. Create unique structures with us.
Session 3: Research and Innovation
