Biografie
Yousra Sidqi holds a MSc in systems theory (2016) and a PhD in electrical engineering (2019) from the University of Grenoble Alps.
Prior to her appointment as senior researcher at HSLU in June 2021, she worked at the Institute of Sustainable Energy at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland between 2019 and 2021 as a post-doctoral researcher on topics related to flexibility services for distribution power grids.
In addition to her main field of expertise, namely modeling, planning, and control of power systems, her main research interests include local energy communities, local energy markets and the use of Living Labs and participatory methods to empower citizens and end-users in the decision-making process regarding energy, and electricity use in particular.
In her research, Dr. Sidqi explores new ways of planning and designing energy systems and led pioneering research on the use of fractals and multi-fractal approaches for the analysis and planning of urban networks and power grids. For this work, she was awarded in 2020 the Think Smartgrids best thesis award, supported by the French system operator ENEDIS, for her contribution to research on smart grids.
Dr. Sidqi is also committed to gender inclusion and diversity in the engineering fields. She is currently acting as the Swiss chapter chair of IEEE PES Women in Power and is a member of the management group of the SATW SwissTecLadies Network.
Dr. Yousra Sidqi is also part of the InnoSuisse powered Innovation Booster program Energy Lab, an innovation ecosystem consisting of more than 200 proactive partners and relevant research institutions in Switzerland and from different disciplines. She is actively supporting its mission to boost the energy transition through joint innovations. Within the program, she is leading the WELL (Women’s Energy Lab & Living) activities, with the objective of increasing inclusiveness in innovation regarding social aspects such as gender, while addressing issues such as clean energy, energy transition, and technological transformation.
