Overview
This project aims to develop a replicable model for participatory wind energy projects that emphasizes local engagement, economic inclusion, and flexible governance structures, leveraging multiple innovative elements. The model incorporates advanced participation frameworks, such as "Minipublics," allowing communities to actively shape project decisions and processes, and a new EDGE-Recommender tool for analyzing communal energy systems and optimizing local renewable energy integration. It also integrates local energy cooperatives (LEGs) as a means of fostering shared ownership and financial benefits. The model’s adaptability will be tested through a field experiment in Schwarzenberg, drawing on key learnings to be elaborated from ongoing wind projects in the Lucerne region to refine and enhance its effectiveness. By combining participatory techniques, economic integration, and agile methodologies, this project aims to deliver a scalable solution for enhancing wind energy acceptance in diverse regions, contributing to Switzerland’s energy transition goals.
