Overview
It will be examined what defines a Virtual Museum from the ODZ's point of view and how IT can optimally design it. Based on these findings, additional functions are integrated into the web presence. It will be prototypically and empirically examined how a Virtual Museum can optimally promote the cultural asset organ. For the project, experts from computer science, music and design & art are involved. The goal is to further develop the ODZ into a virtual museum for organs. Thus, through the new implementation, the cultural asset organ will be made known and usable to a broader public. Technically, the renewal of the infrastructure ODZ should ensure the operation for another 10-15 years. A virtual museum is more than a website. It involves visitors more than an archive. It is the central research question of this project, what exactly constitutes a virtual museum. This will be answered analytically-conceptually and synthetically-empirically or prototypically. As a vision of the project, the virtual museum connects the material with the digital; it links artifact and mentefact. The augmented reality of the organ interweaves the information space of the organ database with the physical space.
