CAS programmes differ from (specialist) courses and seminars in two significant ways:

  • A CAS programme is worth at least 10 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System) and has a corresponding curriculum and workload (10 ECTS roughly equate to 250-300 hours of study). CAS programmes take between six months and one year to complete.
  • While a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) is a recognised degree in its own right, it is also a potential building block for a consecutive Master of Advanced Studies (MAS).

Who can do a CAS programme?
A CAS work-study continuing education programme is for anyone wishing to further specialise and advance their career in their chosen field.

How are CAS certificates recognised?
The HSLU has institutional accreditation from the Federal Government. Generally, credits earned in the framework of an education or continuing education programme are recognised internationally within the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). We recommend you seek out detailed information.

What are the requirements for a CAS programme?
Participants need a university-level degree or equivalent. People without a university-level degree who have the relevant professional experience may apply to be admitted “sur dossier”. Refer to the programme descriptions for details on the admission criteria or contact the head of programme.

The relevant search field is marked "filtersearch"; the feature can also be accessed by pressing the "s" key.

The filters are divided into tabs, each of which can contain more than one filter or permit selection by date. The tab headers can be navigated using the "Tab" key and opened using the "Space" key. The "Esc" key can be used to close the tab again. If the tab permits date selection, the "Tab" key can be used to navigate between the input fields. If the tab contains filters, these can be selected using the "Enter" key. The arrow keys can be used to navigate between the filters. Some filters can also be opened using the "Space" key in order to access sub-filters. The "Space" key can then be used to close the filter again.

After selecting the filters, the focus shifts to a list of selected filters. The "Enter" key can be used to deselect them again.

The "Tab" key can then be used to navigate the programmes. Programmes can be opened using the "Enter" key in order to access more information.
