Biography
Simone Dugaria has always been very curious about solving problems and "experimenting" with possible improvements. To satisfy this inclination, Simone studied Energy Engineering at the University of Padua. While writing his Master's thesis at Eurac Research's Institute for Renewable Energies, Simone discovered that applied research gives him the opportunity to contribute to the development of technologies that are really important for making the world a better and more sustainable place to live. This led him to write a PhD thesis on advanced solar thermal technologies and to pursue an academic career in the field of sustainable thermal energy technologies. Simone later broadened his research to focus on people and their interaction with energy systems, which led him to building services engineering. During his time at the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen, he focused on human comfort in indoor environments in interaction with building systems. In particular, he focused on the control of ventilation systems with energy recovery and indoor air quality. Since January 2023 he work as a senior research associate at the Building Technology Lab of the Institute of Building Technology and Energy (IGE).
