Biography
Birk Weiberg studied Art History, Media Arts, and Philosophy at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and the Humboldt University of Berlin. In 2014 he gained a doctorate from the University of Zurich with a dissertation on the history of optical effects in Hollywood. He was Visiting Scholar at the California Institute of the Arts in 2012, Junior Fellow at the International Center for Cultural Techniques Research and Media Philosophy (IKKM) in Weimar (2015), and Project Manager at Foundation SAPA, Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts. Since 2008 he has worked in different functions at the Zurich University of the Arts, most recently he has been part of the longterm artistic research project "Computer Signals: Art and Biology in the Age of Digital Experimentation". At HSLU he was a PostDoc in the research project "Post-photography: Apparatus, Images, Practices in Art and Everyday Culture" and is currently a Lecturer in the program Data Design and Art and Project Head for Interdisciplinarity and Transformation.
