Biography

Olivier Senn studied musicology, philosophy and German linguistics at Zurich University. In his PhD, he discussed methods of analyzing music recordings. In earlier research projects, he studied aspects of musical performance and interpretation in jazz and Western art music. In recent studies, he investigates listeners’ groove experience as a response to popular music. 2006–2010 he was head of the Research & Development Institute at Hochschule Luzern – Musik; 2010–2017 he served as head of the music performance research group. Since 2023 he also works as subject specialist librarian at the Südpol music library.
