Alongside the Organ Documentation Centre and the Willisau Festival's jazz archive, the music library maintains and archives a large collection of audio media. As an archive library, it also collects historical documents, manuscripts, books and printed scores dating to before 1900, bibliophile and annotated editions, presentation copies, as well as historical periodicals. These originate from the holdings of the Lucerne School of Music's legacy institutions – the Konservatorium Luzern and Akademie für Schul- und Kirchenmusik – or from donations and bequests to the music library.
