This fully taught in English degree program teaches students to become qualified professionals in an international, interdisciplinary and intercultural environment. Over the course of the degree, students will acquire the skills to launch, supervise, actively participate in and successfully complete challenging IT projects in complex situations while taking into consideration cultural differences. As part of the degree, students have to spend two mandatory semesters studying abroad, which further deepens their expertise. Modules

Individual study program

Roughly two thirds of the course content is made up of core modules which all students have to take and all of which are taken while on campus in Switzerland. The remaining third is freely chosen by the student in relation to the major, and is selected and attended at a partner university abroad during the two mandatory exchanges.

Your specialist focus

In the third and sixth semester, you will major either in Technology or Digital Business Engineering during your mandatory semesters abroad.

Full-time or part-time degree

You can complete this degree within three years on a full-time basis or within four years on a part-time basis (part-time option is only available for Swiss or EU nationals).

Project Management

Insight into the degree program

You will do a lot of project work for national and international companies throughout your degree, gaining significant experience in project management in an international and intercultural environment.

Career prospects

Insight into the career prospects

Around one third of our graduates go on to study for a full-time master’s degree. The remaining graduates get jobs in fields that include: IT project coordinator or manager; business analyst; digital marketing manager; software development / engineering; system administration, operation, maintenance; IT solutions / architect / engineer and so on.

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts has many labs with state-of-the-art infrastructure where you can complete your project work. Since fall 2019, the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology has been on a new campus with excellent infrastructure.

Semester abroad

Intercultural skills

All students on this degree program, have to spend two mandatory semesters abroad (in the third and sixth semester). The third semester takes students to the Western World whereas the sixth and final semester before graduation, takes students to Asia. This experience abroad enriches the intercultural and international experience of this degree program, and gives all our students valuable insights into life and culture in other countries.

Admission
  • You must provide evidence of English
    proficiency corresponding to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference, if you are a non-native speaker of English. Such evidence must be available by the end of July at the latest. Academic IELTS or TOEFL are recommended language
    certificates as these certificates are often a prerequisite for acceptance by host
    institutions. If you are from Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Canada, New Zealand or Australia we do not need a certificate from you.
  • Commercial or technical vocational training with a vocational baccalaureate, or
  • Academic Baccalaureate (with an interest in or flair for IT) with at least one year of
    qualified professional experience in an IT - or business-related area, or
  • Technical vocational baccalaureate (with
    specialization in IT or Business) with at least one year of qualified professional experience in an IT- or business-related area, or
  • Graduate of an international school with at least one year of qualified professional experience in an IT- or business-related area, or
  • Graduate with a diploma (specializing in Business or Technology) from a professional college, or
  • Equivalent foreign qualifications with at least one year of qualified professional experience in an IT- or business-related area
