In the future the increasing expansion of regenerative energy systems and the resulting fluctuation in the supply and demand of electricity may mean that the current network capacity has to be taken into account in order to provide room heating.
The necessary flexibility for heating will be achieved through the intelligent integration of short-term thermal storage systems and seasonal storage systems in existing or new heating systems (predominantly heat pumps and solar collectors). In addition, savings can be made in terms of costs and energy consumption and an increase in energy self-sufficiency can be achieved.
Thermal storage systems can also be used as part of the building for the regulation of room temperature (PCMs in outer building walls), and also for increasing efficiency in a range of household appliances (latent heat storage systems in dishwashers, washing machines etc.).
