The Competence Centre Mechanical Systems cooperates in various ways with industry and business, and public institutions. From contract research to publicly funded research projects: numerous forms of cooperation are available.
Experts from the Competence Centre Mechanical Systems make themselves available as supervisors for student projects. Whether it is an industrial project, a bachelor's or master's thesis: in doing so, customers can concretise their ideas or have current problems from their environment worked on. In addition to the results, the customers get to know motivated young people and potential future employees.
The experts at the Competence Centre are more than happy to work on more in-depth and advanced questions in collaboration with their clients within the framework of applied research projects. Those can be commissioned and financed by the client or within the framework of institutional project funding, such as Innosuisse, the Swiss Agency for innovation funding. Innosuisse supports promising, innovative and risky research projects. At least one business partner and one university partner are required. The rights and obligations are defined according to the terms of these programmes and are specified in an agreement. Furthermore, the funding is divided equally between the business partner and the federal government. The university receives the grant and the business partner's cash contributions, which is especially beneficial to SMEs with limited research resources. They may benefit from research and development services and the infrastructure of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts at affordable conditions.
Services are one hundred per cent financed by the client. In return, the highest degree of flexibility and full access to exploitation rights are guaranteed. The services offered range from engineering services and feasibility studies, consulting and expert opinions to the possibility of using the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts laboratories and infrastructure.
