The locational competition for companies, talent and innovation plays out on a global scale. This is why a unique profile and a competitive economic structure are of crucial importance for municipalities and regions in their effort to secure wealth and sustainable growth. With our consulting services, we support municipalities, cities, regions and cantons in the design of their location and economic development.
Generally, location and spatial development focuses on unlocking a location or region’s economic, ecological and social potential and on creating value. Conflicts of objective are par for the course in this context, for instance between business and the environment. We therefore consider regional strategy development a process in which all key actors must be involved. After all, the success of location and economic development is contingent on the commitment of everybody involved.
Based on spatial analyses, we draft development guidelines, location development plans and job creation strategies and enrich the process with creative workshops and moderated meetings. Moreover, we provide support in developing strategy papers and information materials. In contrast to the superordinate «municipal strategy», we put more emphasis on economic development and job creation in our location development plans.
Our specialised fields include the retail sector, which is currently facing great challenges in city and town centres. Megatrends such as digitalisation put the store-bound retail sector under pressure to adapt. However, this requirement to adapt is often in conflict with rigid regulations in town centres. Through dialogue between the retail sector, building owners and public authorities, we develop pragmatic solutions with our clients.
