How long is the study programme?
As a rule, the duration of a CAS programme is half a year, that of a DAS programme one year and a programme at MAS, MBA and Executive MBA level is two years. The modular MAS programmes allow for a flexible duration of up to seven years.
Can I attend several programmes concurrently? Will there by scheduling conflicts?
We cannot guarantee that the timetables will not overlap. If you wish to attend several continuing or executive education programmes concurrently, make sure to carefully compare the related schedules. However, from a didactic perspective, we do not recommend concurrent attendance.
Will ECTS credits from other university-level institutions be recognised for my chosen programme?
Normally, they will not count towards our CAS and DAS programmes. In our MAS, a maximum of 15 ECTS credits from a continuing or executive education at another university may be recognised. The Head of Programme of the MAS in question decides what kinds of prior learning from other universities will be recognised.
What can I do if I am only a few ECTS credits short towards completion of a DAS or MAS programme (e.g. 3 to 5 credits)?
Before you can enrol for the master’s module in a MAS programme, you must have successfully completed coursework amounting to 45 ECTS credits. If you are only a few credits short of the required 45 ECTS credits, there are some easy ways for you to catch up. We offer four options:
Specialisation (elective topic) from the CAS in Business Management (5 ECTS credits): You select a “specialisation” from the CAS in Business Management programme. The current specialisations are: Project Management, Financial Management and Controlling, Entrepreneurial Management and Leadership. Learn more at: www.hslu.ch/betriebswirtschaft.
International Week abroad (5 ECTS-Credits): You participate in an International Week and complete an additional assessed assignment afterwards. Depending on the programme, details must be agreed on in consultation with the head of programme. Learn more at www.hslu.ch/international-weeks.
Applied research project in consultation with the head of programme (5 ECTS credits): You investigate a selected research question and explore it though and empirical research project. This option needs to be carefully discussed with the head of programme.
Can I sign up for all related CAS courses at the start of a MAS programme?
The CAS application deadlines vary from programme to programme. If the start dates of two CAS programmes are close to each other, you may sign up for them simultaneously.
