Specialisation follows on the Basics Module and lead to the Transfer Module.
Orientation (“taster”) modules allow students to gain an idea of the great variety of degree programmes available at the School of Art and Design at Lucerne University, and also to learn new techniques at induction or further training sessions in our workshops, studios and labs.
Orientation Courses (elective): Object Design, Textile Design, XS Jewellery, Video, Animation, Graphic Design, Digital Ideation, Illustration (Fiction/ Non-fiction), Camera Arts, and Fine Art
Workshop Courses (elective): Clay/Plaster Modelling, Metalwork, Woodwork, Colour & Material, Photography, Letterpress/ Relief Printing, Performance, Costume and Stage Design
Students then choose a “Specialisation”, i.e. to study in depth the techniques and skills required for a particular artistic field. Like the orientation courses, the choices here reflect our range of Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree programmes: Animation, Camera Arts, Digital Ideation, Graphic Design, Illustration (Fiction/Non-Fiction), Fine Art & Art Education, Object Design, Spatial Design, Textile Design, Video, and XS Jewellery. Students research, design, and process their own or set themes and projects in their specialisation of choice. Specialised knowledge, advice and support are available from lecturers/ mentors, particularly regarding the preparation of applications and portfolios for future BA degree programmes.
