Overview
The primary goal is to enhance the adaptability of PTES (Pit Thermal Energy Storage) for the Swiss market. A crucial element involves creating pit cover designs that enable agricultural use, energy generation, or public activities on the surface, while ensuring economic viability and technological feasibility. Prioritizing the maximization of the volume-to-surface ratio, this will be accomplished by optimizing the slope angle and other design factors of pit storage. Additionally, the project aims to develop at least one concept that is both technically and economically feasible for repurposing gravel pits into pit storage facilities.
