Remote work could have beneficial effects on the society, the environment and the economy. However, there is still no consensus about the benefits of remote work on cross-border mobility, on employers and on employees.

Drawing primarily upon secondary and empirical data from the alpine countries, this project aims to answer the following research questions: - To what extent can remote work contribute to reducing commuter flows? (WP 1)- How do employers and employees perceive advantages and disadvantages of remote work? (WP 2- HSLU Lead)- What measures can be implemented to mitigate unwanted outcomes of remote work? (WP 2- HSLU Lead)- What restrictions exist on the labour law side with regard to telework relevant for cross-border commuters? (WP3)
